Matt Cross is a Member of the NSW Parliament representing the people of Davidson on Sydney’s North Shore and Northern Beaches.
A member of the Liberal Party, he was elected in March 2023.
He currently serves as the Shadow Assistant Minister for Education and the Shadow Assistant Minister for Government Accountability, which includes being Chair of the Opposition’s “Waste Watch Committee”. He also serves on the Joint Standing Committee for Road Safety (Staysafe).
Prior to his election, Matt held roles in the corporate and not-for-profit sectors for The George Institute for Global Health, KPMG Australia, the Property Council of Australia, as well as advising two Premiers of New South Wales Barry O'Farrell AO and Mike Baird AO.
Matt has a passion for public policy. He has degrees from Harvard University (Master of Public Administration in 2018) and the University of Sydney (Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in 2007 and Master of United States Studies in 2010). Matt has also undertaken studies with the AsiaLink Leaders Program with the University of Melbourne in 2013 and the Semester in Washington Program at the George Washington University in Washington DC in 2004.
In the community, Matt serves as a Director of the St Ives Rotary Club, and supports Lifeline Australia, a leading national suicide prevention service. He has raised funds and awareness by running the 2022 Sydney Marathon and 2016 New York City Marathon, as well as trekking the Kokoda Trail in Papua New Guinea in 2017.
In 2024, Matt was diagnosed with bowel cancer and received treatment. Matt is keen on making sure all of us get regular health check-ups, and if you are over 45 years old to request a free bowel testing kit.
Matt is married to Gessika and they reside in Lindfield.
